If you are choosing a color route
- If you need the identical shade across repeat orders — a retail program, a studio chain, a corporate gift line — put the pigment in the surface and stay with the frosted PU build. It drifts least between production batches, which is what makes reorders painless.
- If you want a blush gradient, a floral or any artwork with more than one tone, take the printed route. Your designs can carry as many tones as the file holds, and complexity does not change the process.
- If you are building a wide collection and want texture to be part of the look, take the colorblock cork build — the natural face keeps the product from reading as one flat slab of pink.
- If you only need a handful of mats in a specific shade for your own studio, custom production is the wrong route and we will say so. Buy stock; factory customization only pays off once the order carries the setup work behind it.

How long does a printed pattern keep its color?
On a PU + Rubber surface, artwork is built to survive normal practice — sweat, rolling and regular cleaning. We test samples for rub resistance before approving production, and alignment lines on that build are latex printed rather than painted on top, which is why they stay legible as the product ages. Long exposure to direct sun is the real enemy of any pigment, so tell your customers to store the mat rolled and away from a hot window.
Can I order a small trial run in a custom shade?
Yes, starting with sampling. We make one physical piece in your tone, you approve it, and only then do we quote the bulk threshold for that specific design — every design carries its own setup work, so the minimum is quoted per project rather than published as a single number. Starting with one colorway instead of a full range is the usual way small brands get their first order accepted.
Do alignment lines have to be a different tone from the surface?
They need contrast, not necessarily a different hue. On a pale pink build, lines a few steps darker in the same family read cleanly and keep the look calm; on a dark surface, a lighter line does the same job. We check legibility on the sample under normal studio lighting, because a pairing that looks right on a design file can disappear on the floor.
Will a pale mat show wear faster than a dark one?
It shows marks more visibly, yes — that is physics, not a defect, and any factory that tells you otherwise is selling you something. Two things help: a frosted or matte finish hides scuffs better than a high-gloss face, and artwork with movement in it disguises everyday marks far better than one flat field.
